It's with perhaps a bit of irony that my Internet reading today went from Starfleet vessels to the possibility of finding life on Mars. One makes the argument for space exploration and colonization, and the other, for some, against.

When I was a kid, my dad was pretty big on the yard when it came to my grandfather. Not a holiday went by that my grandfather didn't drive through the grass and my dad didn't fume and fuss. The irony is that my grandfather was no different with his yard, and not a visit there went by where the grandchildren (and son-in-laws) weren't put to work doing anything from picking up sticks to mowing, trimming and raking.

I did my civic duty this morning and voted in Indiana's primary. And you know what? It feels pretty good.

Now this is why I created this section, for those wacky times when something utterly ridiculous happens completely out of the blue. For instance, I was building the lion enclosure, and noticed this kid running haphazardly through it.

I've written before how much I enjoyed Pan's Labyrinth, so it was with not a small amount of glee that I saw the upcoming Hobbit films are going to be directed by Pan's Guillermo del Toro. And Ian McKellan will be reprising his role as Gandalf.

Taking a rare moment to actually play a game, I spent a little time this afternoon with Zoo Tycoon 2 and the Bloggersville City Zoo. The latest addition: hippos.

Our fish died a couple weeks back. And by fish I don't be a fish, I mean all the fish.

It's been a tumultuous week or two, but after two hosts, two sites, a domain and an IP, several database iterations and some code tweaks, Itzoe.net has finally come home to roost. I'm proud to say, the site is now official.

Of course the big news today was the 5.2-magnitude earthquake that hit the midwest this morning. It was really quite an experience to be awakened in such a manner.

Google's motto may be "Do no evil," but that doesn't mean the devil doesn't sneak into the details sometimes. Who says page content and contextual ads don't make for interesting and amusing, er, bedfellows?
