As the saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Some seven years ago, our previous web host went tits up one weekend when they decided it was a good idea to physically move the server. Oh, and they decided to shut it down first, instead of, I dunno, virtualizing it, or migrating to a backup, or any other number of things a half-competent server admin would do. (And let's face it, I'm not even a server admin, let alone a compentent one, and even I know better.) When it was back up and running, settings changed on their end that prevented the site from working properly. After a couple months of this, we switched hosts.

Different, of course, being relative. Yeah, I changed things around a bit, but this is probably the least radical redesign I've done yet. In fact, it's not so much a redesign as a tweaking of the old design.

Okay, it’s not exactly a time warp, but clearly things have changed. I’ve been wanting to revamp the site for some time, so I finally got off my duff and did it. Additionally, I wanted to add some new things I hadn’t done before, and I wanted everything to be a bit more coherent and consistent. I started the site intending it to be for all Itzoe family members, but over time it became my own personal portfolio for my creative endeavors, so I decided to really push that aspect.

Boy, do I feel sheepish. Here I made all this hullabaloo about getting my blog up and running again, and then I don't post anything. Plus, I said I wasn't going to write anymore about the site itself, yet here I am. Sigh.

At long last, I'm proud (yet somehow a little ashamed) to announce Itzoe.net is finally back. It's been a long, arduous road, and things aren't nearly where they were before, but given time I hope to get there eventually.

This is one of those good news-bad news-good news kind of things. Good news is we haven't abandoned the site. Bad news is we're still having issues with our web host. Good news is I've been working on a new design that (hopefully) will mitigate the errors. Bad news is I don't when it'll be ready.

Okay, I guess that was a good news-bad news-good news-bad news thing.

When last we saw our hero, he was mired in unexplained web site errors that kept him from managing Itzoe.net in something resembling a timely and organized manner. Further, his work schedule was sufficiently booked to the point he questions the validity of the current "recession." Will he survive? Will the web site ever be updated again?

When I haven't posted in a while, I usually have some reason or another that in the end boils down to "I've been lazy." For once, that's not the case. As I mentioned before, we've been having issues ever since our host physically moved the server. They've insisted no settings were changed, and none of the fixes they offered have worked. But the coincidence has just been too, well, convenient.

Whew, what a relief to be back up and running. Our host moved their server and the site was down longer than expected. We weren't exactly thrilled, but now that things are moving again, the hard feelings aren't so hard.

It never ceases to amaze me how fast time seems to fly by. It seems we spend our childhoods impatiently waiting to grow older, and adulthood futilely trying not to grow old.
